Binaba (UE/Reg) May 18, GNA - A robbery attack at Binaba in the Bawku West District has left a 26 year old pregnant woman, Madam Abugre Anatina, dead and two others injured from gunshot wounds.
The three victims were all sent to the Zebilla hospital but Anatina who was also a mother of
three was confirmed dead on arrival while the other two, Madam Akosua Appiah, 49 years and Mr Azumah Apam, 67 years, are receiving medical treatment.
The Bawku Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent (C/SUPT) Lovelace Tefutor Kaletsi, who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said, the robbery took place at about 19:15 hours on Monday which was a market day at Binaba after the Police had escorted traders from Binaba to Zebilla. He said the police usually escort traders from Zebilla to Binaba town to trade on market days and then accompany them back to Zebilla because of the high incidence of robbery on that stretch of road, which is compounded by the very bad nature of the roads which impedes fast flow of vehicles plying the area. He said the police upon reaching Zebilla, received information that four robbers who were riding two motorbikes had arrived at Binaba and shot a transformer which supplies electricity to the town which plunged the area into darkness. He said the robbers entered two shops and made away with an unspecified amount of money.
The Divisional Commander said in the cause of robbing the shop owners they shot the three victims. He said a combined team of Military and the Police had been deployed to the area to restore calm whilst investigations were ongoing. SOURCED: http://myjoyonline.com/
